Hidden Temple – Tha Phrom
On the way to Tha Phrom, we suggest a visit Prasat Kravan; east-facing towers containing unique bas reliefs of Vishnu and Lakshmi rendered in brick. This structure was constructed in the early 10th century during the reign of King Harshavarman I. Bantey Kdei will be the next destination; a spawling, largely unrestored Buddhist monastery built by King Jayavarman VII during his reign in the late 12th Century. The trip continues to Tha Phrum, one of the most popular temples at the park. Once home to 615 exquisite dancers, where the massive fig and silk cotton trees grow from the towers and corridors offering a ‘jungle atmosphere’ and one of the best ‘tree in temple’ experiences. Tha Phrom was originally constructed as a Buddhist monastery and was enormously wealthy in its time, boasting control over 3000 villages, thousands of support staff and vast stores of jewelry and gold.
